-
A Public Face
Learn what makes an accessible and compelling public-facing profile for your work in the arts. We’ll guide you on how to approach your website landing page, artist bio, and elevator pitches to collaborators and funders.
-
Audience Engagement
Engagement takes many different forms, and we’ll work with you to amplify your reach with diverse audiences. Learn how to contextualize your work so people can connect to it. We will work on various forms of outreach such as newsletters, interviews, program notes/pre-concert talks, press releases, etc.
-
Seeking Funding
Whether you are looking for funding or collaboration, this involves reading the room, finding points of connection, pitching your project, and finally making an ask. Together, we will parse the language of grants, residencies, and potential collaborators, and practice pitching your project.
-
Professional Development
Substantial “professional development” is seldom part of arts and music curricula. We offer you a space to reflect on your work in the arts in terms of transferable skills and discover a language for framing your achievements. This communications work will impact how you prepare for interviews, compose a resumé/cover letter, and pitch your work to funders and audiences.
What Our Clients Are Saying…
Too often, I feel like composers get hyper focused on the theoretical/musical side of what we do and forget that there are real people behind the music stands and in front of us in the audience. It's nice to have an aspect of these programs which specifically focuses on that aspect of our creative practice, and I appreciated our discussions on diversity, equity, and inclusion in music composition.
—Solomon, CubeLab ‘22 participant
“Excellent overview around how to research and develop specific profiles around your potential funders. Also, around how to make sure your project/organization positioning is well-aligned with funder goals. Outstanding discussion around mission statement and alignment with DEI awareness and goals. You both are excellent facilitators. The programs were well organized and you encouraged and managed discussion exceptionally well.”
—David, workshop participant
“You two are the absolute best to collaborate with! The help and guidance you gave me this past summer elevated my initial writing, and gave my message clarity.”
— Ellen, artist and gallerist
“It was helpful to hear what other people look for in mission statements, DEI statements, etc. I am an admin in higher education, but am doing an internship for a gallery on our campus for this semester. Would love to stay in touch!”
— Amy, workshop participant
I enjoyed the writing exercises! It helped me reflect on aspects of my musical career I'd never thought about consciously.
